Personal Paradigms
Ms. Holland, 10th Grade, Period 4, Advanced Photography
North Eugene High School
Eugene, Oregon
This class activity and workshop project began with the prompt, "things were never the same after..." Working from this central idea, students in Ms. Holland's photography class reflected on personally significant events in their lives and considered ways that perspectives change and personal paradigms can be redefined. Students worked in groups and individually, identifying topics, developing scripts and voiceovers and gathering relevant assets. In addition to investigating important personal topics, students integrated still and video imagery in their video projects and had the chance to consider how different visual elements can drive a narrative and focus a viewer's attention in different ways.
